Imagination

Peng Xiuwen is a grand master among contemporary Chinese composers and conductors, one that contributed significantly to the form, style and idiom of the modern Chinese orchestra.HKCO has programmed three of Peng’s iconic works. The Terracotta Warriors is a fantasia that takes the audience on a journey through the joys and sadness of the common folk with the rise and fall of the Qin dynasty. Pictures at an Exhibition reimagines Mussorgsky’s classic piano work through the lens of Chinese music. Moonlight on the Spring River is an arrangement for the orchestra of the pipa tune, Flute and Drum at Sunset. The work has a refreshing, flowing and lyrical quality to it.

Responding to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and jointly setting a new SDG world record on 11/4 for "Accumulate the most people experiencing the Eco-Huqin series", participants will receive a limited edition of “SDG Pin“.*
