Assistant Principal Gehu with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Lo Chun Wo is a famous cellist, teacher and gehu virtuoso, he was formerly on the faculty of the Central University of Nationalities (now the Minzu University of China) in Beijing, Visiting Professor at the Sichuan Film and Television University, and Principal Cello of the PLA Comrades' Song And Dance Troupe and Principal Cello of the China Coal Mine Art Troupe. A critic in the Ta Kung Pao described his gehu performing techniques as "lending the instrument a truly Chinese flavour, whether in terms of bowing techniques or fingering. His music is a fine instrumental interpretation of the voice..." In the last thirty years, Lo has also been dedicating himself to teaching the cello. He has trained up many talented cellists in Hong Kong and China, a fulfilment of his hope that more young people can share his knowledge and experience in his chosen instrument.
